2011-2012 Music Series

The First Presbyterian Church Music Series welcomes the IPFW Guitar Ensemble for a concert Friday, February 17.  The program begins at 7:00pm in the sanctuary.  This very popular guitar ensemble performs a wide array of musical styles. Its primary focus is traditional Western European composition with an emphasis on Spanish, Latin American and contemporary works.

The Ensemble features: Ryan Blauvelt, Shaun Bryan, Shan Davis, Derek Kemp, Alex Mendez, Leanza Reyes, Adam Robison, Kurt Roembke, Aaron Swaidner, Michael Wadkins, Mike Walter, and Matthew Zelt under the direction of Prof. Laura Lydy.

The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.  After the concert, there will be a reception for the musicians and the audience in the narthex.
 

Laura Lydy is a Continuing Lecturer in guitar studies at IPFW where she teaches applied guitar and directs the IPFW guitar ensemble. In addition to working with the department's guitar students, she teaches general education courses: Introduction to Musical Expression and Music for the Listener. Ms. Lydy received her Bachelor of Science in Music from IPFW, and a Masters of Music in Guitar Performance from Indiana University’s Jacob School of Music in Bloomington.
