Susan Fox: Afghanistan
Event time(s):
- Date: Thursday, February 16, 2012
The Indiana Center for Middle East Peace presents Susan Fox, author of Little Women of Baghlan from 6:30 to 8:00pm at First Presbyterian Church. Susan Fox relates the story of Joanne Carter and her fellow Peace Corps Volunteers, Nan and Mary, in Afghanistan from 1968-1970, including their move to Baghlan, the nursing school for Afghan girls. She shares a rare glimpse of everyday life in a country that was then safe, with little religious fanaticism, and on the brink of becoming a modern nation. Also on the program is Terry Dougherty, who was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the 1970's. He promotes education, literacy and health for Afghan youth and serves on the board of the School of Leadership, Afghanistan. This program is free and open to the public.
